I can't believe the rush of finals and christmas is over. now all I have left to freak out about is moving to a country, that I didn't know was a country until only recently, for about five months. oh and I also don't speak the language. either of them.

almost outta new england

Today, I am in New Hampshire trying to study for finals while battling with intermittent power outages due to the ice storm.

On January 15th I will be here, on the beautiful Mediterranean island of Cyprus for six months. "Studying" Abroad. Let the countdown begin.

celebrity encounters

you might be wondering why this is my picture of the day. i'll get to that in a second. jenny and i started out our day by hitting the road at 4am. fast forward twelve hours we arrive in wilmington, north carolina. after getting dinner, we were walking around downtown and decided to get ice cream. whilst in line, jenny called my name and directed my attention towards the person in front of us in line. IT WAS CHAD MICHAEL MURRY. aka, this handsome broody man on the left who committed the unforgivable crime of infidelity against the amazing sophia bush. nevertheless he is extremely hot and made eye contact with both jenny and me. we probably would have said hi if he a) weren't a cheating dog & 2) wasn't with his teeny bopper toothpick of a girlfriend.

what a great week this shall be :)

far away places

long time no updates. today i went to boston to visit my mom (who is there on business) and britt! we went to the north end/mikes pastries and stuffed ourselves with italian food. i was in a major food coma on the train ride home.

i took this picture a while ago, my friend marissa went abroad last semester and sent me the coolest postcards, and so i became inspired. not only to take pictures of her sweet postcards but to go abroad myself. so tomorrow im mailing in my application for three different study abroad programs for this summer. im applying to a liberal arts program in london, one in stirling, scotland, and one in australia. yay for culture and travel!

speaking of travel, spring break is coming up next week. jenny and i are driving to north carolina to stalk film crews, hang on the beach, be in warm weather, have some road trip fun, and possibly be extras on one tree hill? we'll sign autographs on a per request basis :)

my phone is haunted.

i swear i'm not insane, and this is my proof. for the past few weeks, at midnight, my phone's calender event alarm goes off. When I click on "view event," it says january 23rd, 1896. This especially creeps me out because it happens at midnight when i'm generally in bed/getting in bed and by myself. This is so freaking weird I don't even know what to say. i'm taking my phone back to verizon, showing them this picture and refusing to leave without a new, unhaunted phone.

my phone is so possessed.

flowers & butterflies

this morning i woke up this morning to a winter wonderland. i didn't even know we we're supposed to get any, it was great! this weekend was so much fun, i love not having friday classes because that means a three day weekend! I've decided that I'll use today to do some laundry, catch up on reading and homework, and hang out with hot chocolate and watch the snow fall :)
Anyways, explanation for the picture: these are currently my two favorite things on my desk. the dried flowers i got from matt a few months ago and below them is my journal which has a quote that i love on the cover; "just when the caterpillar thought the world was over, it became a butterfly." before i end this i just wanted to say HI MEL! i'm not really sure why you can't email me (so frustrating!) but I love that you're reading this now and I can keep you updated through here :) I hope everyone is enjoying their lazy sunday like I am.

curiosity never killed the dog....

started classes this week. i'm taking germs, family relations, psychobiology, and animal cognition. the latter two will be my hardest but hopefully cutting back hours at work will keep stress levels at a minimum. im going to miss this dog. she's comic relief like nothing else.

back to school

i'm finally back at school and it's so refreshing. it's like i can breathe again. the packing part wasn't fun though. aside from the obvious annoying tasks like laundry and shoving all of my stuff into my tiny toyota, i had a very sad puppy following me everywhere. rosalita, or rosie for short, is my golden retriever who knows very well what a suitcase means. as i sat on my bed today taking in my chaotic room and deciding what to pack first she came over and put her head right on my knee, and gave me those sad "why are you leaving?" puppy dog eyes. now, as im sitting in my dorm nursing my flu from hell while everyone else is out celebrating the last night of freedom before classes begin, i'm looking back at this picture with similar eyes.

old & new

i wrote, deleted, re-wrote, deleted. i've got nothing. explanation for the picture: went to NYC last weekend and decided to visit ground zero. When I arrived I found out it was under construction, as they are building the new "Freedom Tower" and with that entails the regular construction restrictions, such as covering all of the fenced off viewing areas with protective tarps. I managed to find a little uncovered hole as did many other people so I only had time for a quick shot. In the corners you can see the outlines of the fence and the tarp, and below begins the Freedom Tower.

intro

so here's the deal with my blog. i doubt anyone will read it, but i'll explain anyways. i read a few blogs everyday and kind of accidentally created my own. i have a secret love for photography but never took any classes on it, so i'm going to try and take more pictures and post what I've got on here. living in new hampshire makes it easy to capture beauty.  more later, i guess.
